Cationic Surfactants in Organic Solvents III. Critical Micelle Concentration of Dodecylammonium Halides in Benzene and Toluene
ثبت نشده
چکیده
The behavior of pr imary, secondary, tert iary and quaternary dodecylammonium chloride and bromide in benzene and toluene was investigated by surface tension measurements , the dye-solubilizafion and iodine-complex formation method and vapor pressure osmometry a t 37 ° and 50°C. The smooth cont inui ty in the measured properties of these solutions as a function of concentration has been interpreted in terms of a progressive oligomerization of the cationic surfactants rather than in terms of a monomer --~ micelle equilibrium, familiar in aqueous solutions. No indication for the phenomenon of critical micelle concentration could be observed.

Charge screening between anionic and cationic surfactants in ionic liquids.
The aggregation and interfacial behavior of mixtures of anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS) and cationic (dodecylammonium bromide, DTAB) surfactants were investigated. A room-temperature ionic liquid (IL) was explored as a solvent for the SDS/DTAB system and compared to water. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) and composition in mixed micelles were determined for both solvents. Our expe...
متن کاملAggregation of an anionic azo dye with conventional cationic surfactants in premicellar region: A conductometric study
The interaction of Congo Red CR with a series of Alkyltrimethylamoniumbromide CnTAB, N-hexadecylpyridinium bromide CPB and N-hexadecylpyridinium CPC were investigated using conductometry technique. It was observed that the formation of dye-surfactant ion pairs takes place at surfactant concentration far below the critical micelle concentration of the individual surfactants. Aggregation was refl...
متن کاملComparison of the Separation Characteristics of Polyvinyl Alcohol Membrane in Dehydration of Benzene and Toluene Using Pervaporation
Pervaporation (PV) is a well-established membrane technique used in separation; especially dehydration of organic solvents. Along with other parameters such as permeate pressure and feed temperature; feed composition is an important parameter, which affects separation characteristics and membrane performance in pervaporation. In this paper, the separation characteristics of a hydrophilic polyvi...
متن کاملSolubilization of Hydrophobic Dyes in Surfactant Solutions
In this paper, the use of surfactants for solubilization of hydrophobic organic dyes (mainly solvent and disperse dyes) has been reviewed. The effect of parameters such as the chemical structures of the surfactant and the dye, addition of salt and of polyelectrolytes, pH, and temperature on dye solubilization has been discussed. Surfactant self-assemble into micelles in aqueous solution and bel...
متن کاملRemoval of Surfactants from wastewater by Rice Husk
Surfactants are one of the major components (10- 18%) of detergents and household cleaning products and are used in high volumes in developed countries. In the present research work, the ability of rice husk as a low cost adsorbent for anionic and nonionic surfactants in wastewater has been studied. The maximum removal efficiency for anionic surfactants was 97%, in an aqueous solu...
